Introduction
In recent years, there has been a growing interest in natural remedies and supplements for improving overall health and well-being. One such product that has gained popularity is hemp seed oil capsules. These tiny, but potent, capsules are derived from the seeds of the hemp plant and offer a range of potential health benefits. In this blog, we'll delve into what hemp seed oil capsules are and explore the various ways they can contribute to your health.
What Is Hemp Seed Oil?
Hemp seed oil, often referred to as "hemp oil," is extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant, which is a close relative of the marijuana plant. However, unlike marijuana, hemp contains very low levels of the psychoactive compound THC, making it non-intoxicating. Instead, hemp seed oil is prized for its nutritional and therapeutic properties.
Health Benefits of Hemp Seed Oil Capsules
Rich in Nutrients
Hemp seed oil is a nutritional powerhouse. It's loaded with essential fatty acids, including omega-3 and omega-6, which are crucial for maintaining a healthy body. These fatty acids play a role in reducing inflammation, supporting brain health, and promoting cardiovascular well-being.
Skin Health
The fatty acids and antioxidants in hemp seed oil capsules can be beneficial for skin health. They may help reduce dryness, itching, and inflammation associated with conditions like eczema or psoriasis. Additionally, hemp seed oil is often used in skincare products for its moisturizing and nourishing properties.
Heart Health
Research suggests that the omega-3 fatty acids found in hemp seed oil may have a positive impact on heart health. They can help lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, and improve overall heart function.
Joint Support
People suffering from joint pain and inflammation may find relief from hemp seed oil capsules. The anti-inflammatory properties of hemp oil can help alleviate symptoms of arthritis and other inflammatory conditions.
Stress and Anxiety Reduction
Hemp seed oil contains compounds like gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which may have a calming effect on the nervous system. Some individuals use hemp seed oil capsules as a natural remedy for managing stress and anxiety.
Brain Health
The omega-3 fatty acids in hemp seed oil are also crucial for brain health. They can support cognitive function, improve memory, and enhance overall brain performance. This makes hemp seed oil a potential ally in promoting mental clarity and sharpness.
Digestive Health
Hemp seed oil has a favorable ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids, which can promote a healthy balance in the digestive system. Some people use hemp seed oil capsules to alleviate symptoms of gastrointestinal issues such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Metabolism Management
The nutrients in hemp seed oil, combined with its potential to reduce inflammation, may aid in weight management. By promoting a balanced inflammatory response and supporting metabolism, hemp seed oil may contribute to maintaining a healthy weight.
Hemp seed oil capsules are a versatile supplement with a wide range of potential health benefits. From promoting heart health to supporting skin and joint health, these capsules offer a natural way to boost your overall well-being. However, it's important to note that individual responses to hemp seed oil may vary, so consulting with a healthcare professional before incorporating it into your wellness routine is advisable, especially if you have any underlying health concerns or are taking medications.
As with any dietary supplement, quality matters. Ensure you purchase high-quality hemp seed oil capsules from reputable sources to reap the full benefits and stay consistent with your consumption for long-term results. Always follow the recommended dosage instructions provided on the product label. With proper use, hemp seed oil capsules can be a valuable addition to your health and wellness routine.

In today's fast-paced world, maintaining a balanced diet can be a challenge. Our busy lives often lead to dietary gaps, making it difficult to meet all our nutritional needs through food alone. This is where dietary supplements come into play. Supplements, in various forms such as vitamins, minerals, herbs, and more, have gained popularity as a means to fill those nutritional voids and assist individuals in achieving their health goals. However, it's crucial to understand that supplements are not intended to replace food; rather, they serve as valuable allies in our journey toward better health.
The Role of Supplements
Supplements are designed to complement and enhance our diets, not replace them. While a balanced diet should be the cornerstone of good health, supplements can play a vital role in addressing specific deficiencies or supporting targeted health objectives. Here are some key reasons why supplements are valuable tools:
Nutritional Gaps: Modern diets can be lacking in certain essential nutrients due to factors like busy schedules, dietary restrictions, or limited access to fresh foods. Supplements can bridge these gaps by providing concentrated sources of specific nutrients.
Targeted Health Goals: Whether you aim to boost your immune system, support bone health, or improve cognitive function, supplements tailored to these needs can help you achieve your health and wellness objectives.
Convenience: Supplements offer a convenient way to obtain nutrients that may not be readily available or easily incorporated into your daily meals. They can be especially helpful for people with dietary restrictions.
Enhanced Performance: Athletes and fitness enthusiasts often turn to supplements like protein powders, creatine, and amino acids to optimize their performance and recovery.
Health Conditions: Some medical conditions or lifestyle choices (e.g., pregnancy, veganism) may require additional supplementation to ensure the body gets all the necessary nutrients.
The Importance of a Balanced Diet
Supplements should never be viewed as a substitute for a balanced and varied diet. Whole foods offer a wide array of nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, fiber, and phytonutrients, in their natural forms, which can be better absorbed and utilized by the body. Additionally, whole foods provide other essential components like dietary fiber, antioxidants, and healthy fats that support overall health.
When it comes to achieving optimal health, it's crucial to prioritize the following dietary principles:
Variety: Incorporate a diverse range of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats into your meals.
Moderation: Be mindful of portion sizes and avoid overconsumption of unhealthy processed foods.
Balance: Strive for a balanced intake of macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, and fats) to meet your energy needs.
Whole Foods: Choose whole, unprocessed foods over highly refined and sugary options.
Hydration: Stay adequately hydrated with water and limit sugary beverages.
Dietary Preferences: Tailor your diet to your individual needs, whether you're vegetarian, vegan, or have specific dietary restrictions.
Supplement Safely and Wisely
When considering dietary supplements, it's essential to approach them with caution and under the guidance of a healthcare professional. Here are some tips to supplement safely:
Consult a Healthcare Provider: Before starting any new supplement regimen, consult with a healthcare provider or registered dietitian to determine your specific needs.
Quality Matters: Choose supplements from reputable brands that adhere to quality standards and undergo third-party testing.
Be Realistic: Avoid the temptation to rely solely on supplements for your health goals. Remember that a balanced diet remains paramount.
Follow Recommended Dosages: Never exceed the recommended dosages, as excessive supplementation can lead to adverse effects.
Supplements can be valuable tools in assisting individuals with their health goals, but they should never replace a well-balanced diet. By focusing on nourishing your body with whole, nutrient-rich foods and using supplements wisely and as needed, you can achieve a harmonious approach to health and wellness. Remember that your journey to better health should be built on a foundation of good dietary habits, with supplements playing a supportive role in your overall well-being.

Coconut oil has long been celebrated for its versatility and numerous health benefits. From cooking to skincare, this natural wonder has found its way into countless aspects of our lives. In recent years, the popularity of coconut oil has led to the development of convenient supplements, namely coconut oil capsules. These capsules are packed with the goodness of coconut oil and offer a host of benefits that can positively impact your overall well-being. In this blog post, we will explore the advantages of incorporating coconut oil capsules into your daily routine.
Rich Source of Healthy Fats
Coconut oil is renowned for its high content of healthy saturated fats, primarily composed of medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs). These MCTs are easily digestible and provide a quick source of energy for the body. When you take coconut oil capsules, you're essentially delivering a concentrated dose of these beneficial fats, which can support energy levels, metabolism, and even aid in weight management.
Heart Health
Contrary to the misconception that all saturated fats are bad for your heart, the MCTs in coconut oil have been shown to have a positive impact on heart health. They can help raise levels of good HDL cholesterol while also improving the overall cholesterol profile, potentially reducing the risk of heart disease. Incorporating coconut oil capsules into your diet may contribute to a healthier cardiovascular system.
Brain Function and Cognitive Health
MCTs have a unique ability to cross the blood-brain barrier, making them readily available as a source of energy for the brain. This can enhance cognitive function, improve focus, and even provide a potential therapeutic benefit for individuals with neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's disease. Including coconut oil capsules in your daily routine may help support optimal brain function.
Immune Support
Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which has antimicrobial and antiviral properties. When you consume coconut oil capsules, you provide your body with a natural defense mechanism against harmful pathogens. Lauric acid is known for its ability to help the immune system combat infections, making coconut oil capsules an excellent addition to your wellness routine, especially during cold and flu seasons.
Skin and Hair Health
The benefits of coconut oil extend beyond internal health. Many people use coconut oil topically to improve the condition of their skin and hair. When taken as a supplement, coconut oil capsules can contribute to healthier, radiant skin and stronger, shinier hair. The healthy fats in coconut oil promote moisture retention and help combat dryness.
Weight Management
Coconut oil is often promoted as a helpful aid in weight management due to its potential to increase feelings of fullness and support a healthy metabolism. Taking coconut oil capsules may help control appetite, making it easier to adhere to a balanced diet and potentially assist with weight loss or maintenance goals.
Coconut oil capsules offer a convenient and effective way to incorporate the numerous health benefits of coconut oil into your daily routine. From promoting heart health and supporting brain function to bolstering your immune system and enhancing skin and hair health, these capsules are a versatile and natural supplement that can contribute to your overall well-being. However, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional before adding any new supplement to your diet, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking medications. When used wisely, coconut oil capsules can be a valuable addition to your holistic approach to health and wellness.

Contrary to popular belief, not everyone needs a supplement — a lot of people get the nutrients they need from a healthy, balanced diet. So, the first step is to understand if you need to take one.
]]>Contrary to popular belief, not everyone needs a supplement — a lot of people get the nutrients they need from a healthy, balanced diet. So, the first step is to understand if you need to take one.
The most common reasons someone might take a supplement include:
A blood test can also help you understand whether your diet is providing you with all the nutrients you need. Based on this, you can make an informed decision about whether you need a supplement or not.
If you’re on any medications or have a medical condition, you should always speak with your doctor before taking any kind of supplement.
How to pick a high-quality supplement
Once you’ve decided that a supplement is what you need, the next step is finding one that’s high quality.
Watch out for bold claims / Watch out for any supplements that make bold claims — for example, a supplement that helps to clear acne or reduce the signs of ageing. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
Read the ingredients / Always make sure to read the ingredients. If it lists any ingredient you don’t recognise or understand, research them to make sure it’s not an unnecessary additive. Low-quality supplements can be full of additives which block your body from absorbing the active ingredient (the nutrient you want).
Often, you can get an indication of the quality of a supplement by checking the ‘free from” information. This might include, ‘free from’:
It’s particularly important to read the label if you have an allergy.
Check the dosage / It’s really important to choose a supplement that has the right dose for you. There can be a fine balance between getting enough and over supplementing. More is not always better!
Taking too much of a food supplement can potentially cause health problems — for example, too much vitamin D can lead to a condition called vitamin D toxicity. This is rare but it’s still worth paying close attention to the doses in your supplements.
On top of this, the dose only makes up part of the picture. You also need to consider the bioavailability of the active ingredient.
Check the bioavailability / Bioavailability refers to the amount of the nutrient that your body is able to absorb. There are many different forms of nutrients and some are much easier to absorb than others.
For example, magnesium is available a lot of different forms, like magnesium chloride, sulphate, bis-glycinate, taurate, or citrate. Some of these are easier to absorb but they can also have different benefits. So it’s worth doing your research or working with a health professional to find the right form for you.
Consider the cost
Supplements can be really expensive — so look for a price that works for you and, if needed, a price you can afford long-term. There can be a trade-off between the cost and quality of the supplement, so you need to get the balance right. Remember that supplements are only worth the money if you remember to take them; set an alarm to remind yourself!
Check where it’s made & where the ingredients are sourced from / If you want to get comfortable with what you are consuming and your carbon footprint, make sure you check the origin and manufacturing methods.
So, how can natural ingredients assist with boosting your immune system? Here's how:
Tonik No.1 / Coconut Oil
Jam-packed with Lauric acid & Caprylic acid which assist in strengthening our immune systems. These “good guy” acids are natural anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal agents.
Tonik No.2 / Apple Cider Vinegar
As it is fermented, it contains beneficial bacteria and prebiotics that can have a positive impact on immune health. It also has antibacterial properties that can fight off the pathogens wreaking havoc in your body. Lastly, it encourages detoxification through lymphatic drainage and enhances circulation, which can help the body remove the bad bugs more quickly.
Tonik No.3 / Turmeric / Curcumin
The way curcumin behaves as an anti-inflammatory, in itself, makes it an excellent therapeutic agent for immunity. Curcumin increases the immunomodulating capacity of the body – in plain English, it stimulates our immune system in a “Call to Action” way. Additionally, turmeric is a powerful antioxidant which may help reduce free radical content in the body and slow the cell death process. Combining micronized curcumin with naturally occurring oils called turmerones, Tonik’s formulation provides a unique form of bio-enhanced turmeric which is also very readily absorbed.
Tonik No.4 / Hemp Seed Oil
The oil’s composition of fatty acids, including both Omega 6 and Omega 3, is crucial in enhancing your body’s ability to fight diseases and maintain a robust immune system. Hemp Seed Oil exerts an immune-modulating effect, enhancing immune function when needed, as well as down-regulating immune function in cases of autoimmune conditions. In addition the GLA (Gamma Linoleic Acid) component of Hemp Seed Oil assists in maintaining a positive mood to help us get through each day – even more important during this crazy time.

This couldn’t be any further from the truth! Here’s how professors at Harvard define the process:
“They (supplements) are absorbed directly into the bloodstream as food is broken down during digestion or as a supplement dissolves. Because much of your body consists of water, many of the water-soluble vitamins circulate easily in your body.”
This, coupled with the fact that many supplements contain naturally derived nutrient sources, helps increase the beneficial absorption of vitamins, minerals that are in the supplements we choose to consume.
Because the USDA suggests such a large volume of fruits and vegetables each day, consuming supplements can be an easy and time friendly way to ensure that each of us is maximizing the benefits available to us through high quality products.
Additional nutrients and supplements that are taken that our bodies do not need and generally flushed out naturally by our bodies through the urinary tract. There is little concern about taking “too much” of a supplement, as our body will regulate what we do and don’t need.
By consistently taking recommended doses of the supplements our bodies need to function optimally, we’re ensuring the best possible results for your individual needs.

Supplements can do amazing things for our health and wellbeing if we remember to take them every day. If we don’t take them consistently, then we might not see the benefits they can have. Here’s why:
In today’s super charged, modern lifestyles it can be difficult to get enough of the right nutrients from our food alone. But our body needs a certain amount of vitamins and minerals to function. We all have a recommended daily amount (RDA) of each of the essential vitamins / nutrients. Our bodies need a range of nutrients in order to survive. They are central to all bodily process including energy metabolism, cell regeneration. Deficiencies in nutrients can, therefore, affect the ways in which our body functions, or rather doesn’t function. So supplementing our diet with nutrients that are missing or in short supply is important.
They should never be used to replace a healthy diet, but taking them can supplement the food that you eat. They can help to make sure your body gets all the nutrients it needs to function. But you need to take them every day. Your body needs these vitamins every day, so it’s important that we take them consistently.
Just when you thought your to do list was already long, remembering to take your supplements can be a challenge. Fear not, here’s 3 things we do at HQ to remind us every day:
1. Show Them Off
Tonik's packaging was designed to be displayed. Keep them at the front of your mind by keeping them on show. We find having them on in our handbags and on our desks reminds us each day.
2. Create a Ritual / Be Consistent
Aim to take your supplements at the same time everyday so that it becomes routine
3. Divide & Conquer
Keeping your Tonik in one place isn’t a thing. How’s this for an idea; Divide your Tonik up into different places, maybe some at home & some at the office. We keep a stash in our gym bags or handbags too just incase.
]]>If you’re an OG Tonik enthusiast, you’ll have heard about our founder Pip’s story with Apple Cider Vinegar and how it helped her to heal her relationship with food and her body image. Pip started to take ACV because a lil’ birdy (Glenn, Pip’s dad and Tonik’s pharmacist), told her all about the digestive and gut healing benefits you could get from consuming a couple of tablespoons a day and she was quickly hooked.
So, what is ACV and what are these benefits everyone is raving about?
The most basic definition of Apple Cider Vinegar we could provide, would be ACV is a fermented cider. The slightly more scientific definition? ACV is a fermented cider that works from its high content of acetic acid (the active ingredient in vinegar) and contains the ‘mother’, which is the healthy bacteria, proteins and enzymes found in ACV.
We found a lot of people took ACV simply for weight management and weight loss benefits (‘apple cider vinegar weight loss diet’ is one of the highest search terms around ACV – did ya know?), but we’re more about how ACV makes us feel.
There are also hardcore ACV fans who use it as a deodorant and face toner… however at Tonik we don’t believe you needa smell like ACV to reap the benefits. But you can if you wanna 💁🏼♀️
Aids digestion + gut health
Taking a shot (or a couple of capsules) of apple cider vinegar has been said to support our digestive tract, aid nutrient absorption, and promote a healthy gut. The acetic acid found in apple cider vinegar is known to support and regulate healthy digestion, which effectively lays the foundation for a healthy gut. Which means we can become a part of the cool gut healing movement taking over the internet.
Regulates blood sugar and insulin
If your blood sugar and insulin levels need some help, apple cider vinegar is here for you (BFF) and your body. Studies have shown that apple cider vinegar can decrease the activity of several enzymes associated with carbohydrate metabolism, which can help to decrease absorption of sugar and carbs in the small intestine, which may result in reduced blood sugar levels and insulin. This is GREAT for those with us living with diabetes and is a worthwhile habit to indulge in if it means reduced symptoms and a happier body.
Antibacterial properties
Not only does the acetic acid in apple cider vinegar aid in promoting digestion and balancing blood sugar levels, it is high in antibacterial properties, which means it can be used to kill bacteria in the body. Some even use ACV to clean surface level wounds like burns and stings 😱 killa!
Still not convinced? Here’s 14, 100, 000 Google search results that advocate the numerous benefits of ACV. Do you need us to explicitly say that apple cider vinegar has REAL health benefits? Okay! YES, consuming apple cider vinegar has loads of benefits for a range of different people, symptoms and health needs and you gotta get on it STAT.
]]>Uh, we do… actually.
Are you one of those people who’d stay in bed all day if you could? Do you wake up already feeling tired? Or, like clockwork, does your body and brain shut down at 3pm? You’re not alone! Turns out, there’s quite a few of us who struggle with our sleeping patterns and low energy throughout the day. So, this week, for Sleep Awareness Week, we thought we’d have a go at discussing this years’ theme, ‘Sleep On It – Memory and Problem Solving’.
Sleep is quite literally something we can’t live without. For those of us who have ever pulled an all-nighter, you’ll know what we’re talking about (any mummas or full-time uni students out there? Or, both?! 😱). While it seems obvious that a lack of sleep has negative effects on us, there are some very specific consequences when we don’t prioritise sleep.
When you lose sleep you’d usually have, you may notice a couple of things over the following days:
The one thing we can link all of the above to is our brain, which is kind of the catalyst for everything we do 💁🏽♀️ (we get it brain, you’re kind of a big deal). A good night’s sleep has a huge impact on our ability to think and learn, and retain information. Sleep plays an important role in memory function, which directly affects our brain’s capacity to expand our knowledge. So, during a low sleep period, think of your brain like it’s going into survival mode and it’s grasping at whatever it can to get through till your next beauty sleep sesh.
While it’s important to sleep for a decent amount of time per night (generally around seven to nine hours), there are other important aspects to note that may be affecting the quality of our sleep and the energy we expend throughout the day.
Here are a couple that we think are fairly common and mostly affect us:
When at least one or more of the above are out of balance, we feel a little ‘bleh’. While things like caffeine and exercise aren’t necessarily ‘bad’ things, an excess of either can overstimulate our brains and affect the quality of our sleep. Then there’s nutrition and water intake – both are necessary for our bodies to function naturally, and thus, sleep well throughout the night.
There are a multitude of reasons why we need to be sleeping through the night, and why we might not be sleeping through the night, so it’s crucial for us to check in with ourselves regularly to find out what may be stopping us from getting the sleep we deserve.
Our bodies are incredible little machines and it’s truly fascinating to know that something as simple as sleep can have such drastic effects on the way we function.
So, the moral of the story?
Sleep.
And then sleep some more.
]]>Our interviewees admitted that their diet as a diabetic isn’t much different to someone without diabetes and should consist of food we should be eating anyway 💁🏻♀️; however, the effects of food on our bodies may be different. Diabetics tend to be more wary of foods high in energy, as well as saturated fats, as they can raise your cholesterol levels. A ‘healthy’ diabetic diet generally focuses on foods to help regulate blood sugar levels.
Most, if not all, diabetics have some sort of non-negotiable medication regime consisting of natural and traditional treatments. One of our fave supplement routines included the regular addition of our Tonik No.2 in their cycle – how freaking amazing! They use Apple Cider Vinegar to help manage their insulin levels and lower cholesterol levels. What a natural superstar!
You know when you’re on antibiotics and have you have to remember to take them at specific times every day but always seem to forget? Well, pricking your finger is kind of like antibiotics… but you don’t really have the luxury of forgetting. Life as a diabetic is as involved as drawing blood on a daily basis. One of our interviewees pricks his finger every morning to get the low-down on his levels, and then adjusts his diet for the rest of the day to manage his blood sugar levels.
Living with diabetes means you have to be tuned in to your health most of the time, as other illnesses or conditions can sometimes be affected by diabetes. This means regular exercise, making conscious food choices and getting on top of doctors appointments. When one of our Tonik Tribe members was diagnosed with a separate illness, his regular Type 2 habits were replaced with insulin injections and he had to adopt Type 1 practices to manage his health.
So, how much do you know about insulin? Do you know how insulin is produced in our bodies and why we need it? Diabetes Australia defines insulin as “…a hormone made by beta cells in the pancreas. When we eat, insulin is released into the blood stream where it helps to move glucose from the food we have eaten into cells to be used as energy” (Diabetesaustralia.com.au, 2019). Which means a lack of insulin results in a lack of energy. Those with Type 1 Diabetes are physically incapable of producing insulin, which is why they require daily injections. There are different types of insulin available, which is why it’s important to talk to our friends and family members about their diabetes so we can completely understand their condition and how we can continue to support them through their diabetes journey.
Do you have diabetes or know someone who does? Talk about it with people around you, find out what life is like as a diabetic and educate others on how they can raise awareness around something that affects so many of us. Living with diabetes is not just a ‘one-time’ thing. It’s an ongoing, lifelong, commitment that we should all understand the effects of.

Hi Tonik Tribe, Pip here! The team at Tonik HQ thought it was time to take a step back and share my story and what lead me to building Tonik.
Growing up, I was no stranger to the health and wellness world - my dad was a pharmacist (yep, that’s Glenn!) and I was a competitive rower. I was surrounded by all things health and for the most part, I had no issue with it. At the age of fifteen, I was at peak performance, especially for my height and weight. But that changed the day I auditioned for crew selection. My coach said I was “too heavy” to be chosen and I wouldn’t make it on the team.
From this moment, my relationship with my body changed, and I was motivated by all the wrong reasons. I overtrained and under-ate, and consequently lost a considerable amount of weight. I didn’t realise what I was doing, I just thought I was being ‘healthy’ and working hard towards my goals.
My turning point came at the end of high school when I was training for the New Zealand rowing trials. On the day of the trials I couldn’t complete my time trial due to exhaustion – I passed out mid-trial. My parents took me to the hospital and I was officially diagnosed with an eating disorder and everything clicked. As unprepared and resistant as I was, I knew something had to change.
I spent years in recovery and re-established a healthy relationship with myself. Once I was on the other side of my recovery, I knew there was more I had to do.
Whilst I’m now comfortable to talk about my experience, I’m not comfortable with the people and systems that promote distorted body ideals and images. So, when I launched Tonik all I truly wanted was to help others so they had the knowledge they needed to feel good, and to know “health” is subjective and isn’t about how you look, but how you feel.
It can be difficult as a wellness brand to distinguish yourself from the usual “health hacks” and “quick fixes” that people so often buy in to. But that’s not what I want Tonik to be at all. Because I know what it’s like to be the person on the other side of it all.
So, I’ve made it my responsibility and goal to educate and help others find helpful information around supplements and health that is not misguided or contains any hidden agendas. Just honest, transparent, information for real people who just wanna’ feel good.
]]>There’s been a lot of talk lately discussing the relationship between the diet and wellness industries, and whether the two overlap. The team at Tonik HQ have had a long, hard think about our brand and where we sit in the grand scheme of things and we’ve come to a few conclusions.
We’ve decided we don’t want to be just another wellness company. We know there are flaws in the health and wellness industry that brands are failing to address, so we’ve assigned ourselves the task of breaking down barriers that previous companies couldn’t. So, what does this mean?
It means Tonik is taking a no-fluff approach to feeling good. We’ll be doing our best to move away from the world of ‘health hacks and quick fixes’ and moving towards just feeling great, regardless of who we are and what we look like.
Here’s what we plan to do:
Here’s what we won’t do:
The world is changing and it’s important to us that we change with it! So, keep your eyes peeled for what’s coming up, we promise it’ll be good!
]]>Winter has hit Australia hard this year and while we’re all reaching for our fave flannos, we should really be poppn’ our No.2 Apple Cider Vinegar caps.
]]>We haven’t held back from sharing the goodness of ACV with the world, but it turns out there are loads more reasons why we should be emptying our ACV bottles (into our mouths) this winter.
It’s no secret our immune system is a bit vulnerable during these colder months. There are plenty of habits and routines you can incorporate during your day that’ll fight off the flu, like making sure you get enough sleep and reducing stress. But if you’re looking for extra protection and prevention, all you gotta’ do is pop one of our ACV caps and let the antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties go to work.
Mornings are getting colder and darker, making the rise & grind more of a roll out of bed and “do I really have to grind?” kind of vibe. By simply incorporating ACV in your daily routine you’ll feel your natural energy levels increase, and you’ll be ready to tackle each day with the vigour of a baby iguana running away from a pit of snakes.
Look, let’s be honest. The colder the weather gets, we’re more likely to turn to warmer, more comforting foods to get through these chilly days. If you find yourself reaching for foods you wouldn’t usually eat, Apple Cider Vinegar can help to reduce cravings and help you decipher between when your body is truly hungry, and any other messages your body is trying to tell you.
So, if you’ve been hanging out to try our No.2 caps, winter is the perfect time to pop a couple of these bad boys and watch the magic happen. Because if you didn’t know already, Apple Cider Vinegar is kind of a big deal. And we definitely don’t want you to miss out.

It's is one of nature's richest sources of Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) and Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA), Hemp seed oil includes the EFAs Omega 6 & Omega 3 in a naturally occuring 3:1 ratio, which is considered an essential part of a balanced diet. Tonik Hemp Seed Oil Capsules are produced from organic grown Hemp Seeds and are vegan-friendly.
]]>Say what you will about Kanye, but he was right about one thing, ‘Hey Mama, I appreciate what you allowed for me, I just want you to be proud of me.’
Big shout out to all the beautiful mum’s out there. We get our inspiration from you. You taught us to treat our bodies right, love who we are, and to always only moisturise UPWARDS on our faces. Here’s to you.
Mother's Day for us is all about giving back to our beautiful mum's. Therefore, we have listed some facts why our natural & organic supplements support your super-mama's health just wherever she needs it most:
HORMONAL BALANCE - HEMP SEED OIL
Hormone imbalance symptoms are very likely caused by sensitivity to the hormone prolactin. Did you know, Hemp Seed Oil can assist with reducing symptoms of PMS and Menopause?! It can also help with pain and tenderness, depression, irritability and fluid retention associated with PMS. #youbeauty
Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), found in hemp seeds, produces prostaglandin E1, which reduces the effects of prolactin. The GLA in hemp seeds regulates the hormone imbalances and inflammation resulting in less swinging moods and better times all round, no matter what time of the month it is!
PLUS: The linoleic acid and oleic acids found in hemp oil can’t be produced by the body but play a crucial role in skin health and anti-aging.
DIGESTION - APPLE CIDER VINEGAR (WITH THE MOTHER FOR THE MOTHER)
Tonik No. 2 contains 600mg of pure, concentrated Apple Cider Vinegar which DOES contain the mother. In ACV particularly, “the mother” is a complex structure of beneficial acids. As with many things in nature, vinegar in its unfiltered, unadulterated and unrefined form has a variety of benefits that are lost when it is filtered and heated, hence why Tonik No.2 Apple Cider Vinegar Capsules are 100% #organic & #raw with ZERO heat treatments, hooray!
SKIN CONDITIONS - COCONUT OIL
About 52% to 85% of organic coconut oil is made up of medium-chain fatty acids, also known as medium chain triglycerides (MCTs). These MCT’s assist with cell regeneration and have been linked with benefits to hair, skin and nail health when taken both internally and applied topically. Research suggests also that organic coconut oil has a beneficial effect on vascular health and our cardiovascular systems generally. It has also been documented that Coconut oil assists with gut health through an anti-inflammatory action which can assist with Crohn’s disease and Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
INFLAMMATION & DIGESTION - TURMERIC
When you think of improving your gut health, typically probiotics and fermented foods come to mind. However, adding a turmeric supplement to your diet can also support a healthy gut and can prevent serious intestinal health problems. Turmeric is beneficial for several components of the digestive system:
- The Intestines: Curcumin supports digestion by relaxing the smooth muscles on the walls and gently pushing food through the intestines. It also helps to prevent gas and bloating as food is being digested.
- The Colon: A healthy colon is essential for efficient gut function, as well as the promotion and growth of friendly gut bacteria. Curcumin facilitates the balance between your gut flora and the immune response by encouraging the glands on the surface to regenerate and heal when pathogenic bacteria or leaky gut is present.
- The Stomach: Turmeric helps the stomach lining in several ways. It inhibits the enzymes that compromise stomach health and boosts the secretion of stomach mucous. This mucous is the primary defence against damage from gastric acid.
- The Liver: Turmeric helps to increase cholesterol elimination by boosting the production of bile. When you combine turmeric with fiber-rich foods, your liver is more efficient at cleansing cholesterol by trapping it and moving it directly to the colon for elimination.

Fabulous question! The powers that be (way above our tightened lids) are lots of guys in suits running the pharmaceutical industry, they don’t like natural health at all. They are trying to regulate the accessibility of natural health supplements because it will cause serious disruption in the sales of prescribed drugs & medicines, perhaps in some cases eliminating the need for prescription medicines (at times & in certain cases)

ABOUT OUR COCONUT OIL CAPSULES!
If you visit Sporteluxe (and we hope that you do!) you would’ve seen that in the last few months or so, the peeps have rolled out an exclusive event series called Table for 12.
Table for 12 is exactly what its name suggests; an intimate gathering aimed at bringing together inspiring, hard-working women who are killing it in their respective field of fitness, wellness, beauty, fashion and lifestyle for a day of delicious food, inspiring conversations and all the good vibes.
We’re huge advocates of women supporting women and Table for 12 really encompasses this. So we were pretty chuffed to contribute our Natural Beauty & Wellness Supplements and be part of the last round on the 20th of March 2019.
In case you’ve missed it, here are some snaps on the who, what, where and why as we wrap up what was an absolutely amazing event.
The advanced Tonik Turmeric Capsule formulation does not need these additives. Tonik provides a very modern formulation that uses essential oils from within the Turmeric Root (Rhizome) which aid absorption without the need for any other additives. This means almost seven times more Curcumin gets absorbed and provides the beneficial effects and only a one capsule twice a day dose.
Our Turmeric and Curcumin Capsules deliver & provide the same benefits as the raw ingredients without any of the side effects in easy-to-take dosages.

Our Apple Cider Vinegar Capsules contain 600mg of pure, concentrated Apple Cider Vinegar which DOES contain the mother. In ACV particularly, “the mother” is a complex structure of beneficial acids. As with many things in nature, vinegar in its unfiltered, unadulterated and unrefined form has a variety of benefits that are lost when it is filtered and heated, hence why Tonik No. 2 is 100% #organic & #raw with ZERO heat treatments, hooray!
Our Apple Cider Vinegar Capsules deliver & provide the same benefits as the raw ingredients without any of the side effects in easy-to-take dosages.

ABOUT OUR APPLE CIDER VINEGAR CAPSULES!
The other type of vitamin, the fat-soluble ones, need to dissolve in fat before they can make it into the body. The process requires fat-digesting bile acids that come from the liver and live in the small intestine. When the bile acids break down the fat the vitamins are dissolved in, the vitamins move with the fat through the intestinal wall, into the body, and finally end up in the liver and in body fat, where they're stored until they're needed.
The human body is capable of producing all the fatty acids it needs, except for two: linoleic acid (LA), omega-6 fatty acid, and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid. These have to be consumed from the diet and are therefore termed “essential fatty acids”.
We are designed for convenience without harming any of the natural benefits of the raw ingredients, which contain vitamins & minerals and fatty acids. We're proud to be totally transparent in what we do + caffufle free! Have you joined the #toniktribe yet?

ABOUT OUR HEMP SEED OIL CAPSULES!
Each time you smile, you throw a little feel-good party in your brain. The act of smiling activates neural messaging that benefits your health and happiness. Smiling activates the release of neuropeptides that work toward fighting off stress, releases the feel-good neurotransmitters — dopamine, endorphins and serotonin, lowers your heart rate and lowers blood pressure.
The endorphins also act as a natural pain reliever which are 100-percent organic and without the potential negative side effects of synthetic concoctions.
We dare you to pause, think of the funniest thing you have seen all week and then chuck on a big smile. #yourwelcome #smile #thetonik

]]>Everyone knows the who what's about turmeric but did you know the real hero is actually curcumin?
Curcumin, the active ingredient found in the spice turmeric, may help ease inflammation by blocking the effects of two enzymes in the body which lead to inflammation.
The two enzymes, 5-lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase-2, have been found to encourage and sustain swelling and inflammation in body tissues and organs. Blocking the enzymes may help reduce pain and the risk of other medical conditions that may develop as a result of prolonged inflammation.
What our peeps say about Tonik No. 3 Turmeric and Curcumin Capsules? Click here to read the reviews or watch the video below.
1. Set a reminder on your phone for the same time every day. Consistency works!
2. Draw a line around your finger so when you see it, you remember. Super old school, but it works!
3. Ask a fellow Tonik'er to remind you every day. It will get very annoying, very quickly. Which is why you’ll remember.
4. Add it into your morning routine. Shower, brush your teeth, supplements. Repeat process...forever!
5. Put the supplements in a place you’ll be forced to see them: on a shelf, hanging in your closet next to the days clothes, or the windscreen of your car.
6. In your shoe. Yes this sounds silly (and maybe a little gross depending on your foot care), but once you can’t get your foot in because of that little bottle, you’ll remember.
7. Post-It notes. Little, yellow, simple. Put a note on your mirror that says “Hey Beautiful, take those supplements!”
8. Place the supplements directly next to your morning coffee cup. You’d never forget your coffee, would you?
9. Supplement bottle tucked in next to you in bed? Sounds silly, but that little bottle all cozied up in your sheets will force you to remember. Just don’t let them oversleep!
10. Tape the bottle on the back of your phone. Extreme? Yes. Sometimes necessary so you don’t forget?
There are 10 simple ways to help you remember. The most important part is taking our natural and organic supplements are part of your daily routine...you know, just like texting, drinking coffee and sleeping!
]]>The below breakdown explores the research behind apple cider vinegar capsules and weight loss to shed a little more light on the mechanisms behind this super elixir.
Acetic acid is a short-chain fatty acid that dissolves into acetate and hydrogen in your body. Some studies suggest that the acetic acid in apple cider vinegar may promote weight loss in several ways:
Lowers blood sugar levels: In one study, acetic acid improved the ability of the liver and muscles to take up sugar from the blood.
Decreases insulin levels: In the same study, acetic acid also reduced the ratio of insulin to glucagon, which might favour fat burning.
Improves metabolism: Another study exposed to acetic acid showed an increase in the enzyme AMPK, which boosts fat burning and decreases fat and sugar production in the liver.
Reduces fat storage: Treating obese, diabetic patients with acetic acid or acetate protected them from weight gain and increased the expression of genes that reduced belly fat storage and liver fat.
Burns fat: A study in a high-fat diet supplemented with acetic acid found a significant increase in the genes responsible for fat burning, which led to less body fat buildup.
Suppresses appetite: Another study suggests acetate may suppress centres in your brain that control appetite, which can lead to reduced food intake.
